The 2027 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo will be held at the Brigden Fairgrounds in St. Clair Township, organizers confirmed this week.

The Ontario Plowmen’s Association, in partnership with the Lambton County Plowmen’s Association and a local hosting committee, selected Brigden for its central location, existing infrastructure, and ability to accommodate large crowds.

“Brigden Fairgrounds offers excellent infrastructure, ample space, and a welcoming community atmosphere that will make this event truly special,” said Dennis Bryson, a local organizer and member of the Lambton County Plowmen’s Association. “It’s a perfect site that combines tradition with modern amenities, ensuring a memorable experience for exhibitors and visitors alike.”

The event is expected to draw over 100,000 visitors and will include competitive plowing, agricultural demonstrations, exhibits, and educational programming.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Lambton County to showcase its agricultural roots and innovative farming practices,” said Dennis Robinson, representing the Brigden Fairgrounds. “The fairgrounds’ charm and capacity to host large crowds make it the perfect venue.”

“This event will put Lambton County on the map again and inspire future generations of farmers and agricultural enthusiasts, as it did in 1923, 1973, and 1991,” Bryson added.

The Lambton Plowmen’s Association has hosted county-level plowing matches since 1920, rotating the event through various townships. The International Plowing Match and Rural Expo was last held in Lambton County in 1991.

Planning is already underway, with organizers working alongside local farmers, businesses, and community partners. More details are expected to be announced in the months ahead.
