For Immediate Release
GRAND BEND, ON – Wednesday, March 4, 2026 – The International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) Local Committee is planning a Volunteer Information Night at Lambton Heritage Museum on Thursday, March 26, along with a tour of the newly renovated Agricultural Hall which showcases Lambton’s plowing history.
The free evening begins at 6:15pm with Dana Thorne, Curator / Supervisor of Lambton Heritage Museum leading participants through the Agricultural Hall before the information session begins.
“Not only will visitors learn more about Lambton County’s plowing history, but they’ll also see highlights like Lambton Agricultural Hall of Famer Jerry Ferguson’s championship tractor and plow,” said Thorne.
From 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm, volunteers with the IPM Local Committee will provide visitors with information about the various volunteer roles that are available as the Committee works to plan the 2027 IPM, to be held in Brigden, Ontario.
“We are looking forward to welcoming guests from across the country to Lambton County to attend the IPM, and to create a successful event, we will need hundreds of volunteers,” said Dennis Bryson, IPM Local Committee Chair.
“We will have volunteer roles available that rely on a wide variety of skill sets and time commitments from volunteering to sell IPM merchandise at special events, to driving people in people movers during the show, to helping select and organize entertainment.”
Registration is not required to attend this Volunteer Information Night, and guests will find Lambton Heritage Museum at 10035 Museum Road, Grand Bend, Ontario.
The International Plowing Match and Rural Expo (IPM) has been held in Lambton County on three previous occasions in 1923, 1973, and 1991. In 2027, the IPM will be held at Brigden in St. Clair Township, located in Lambton County from September 21 to 25, 2027.
This one-of-a-kind celebration of agriculture and rural life offers visitors the opportunity to learn about agriculture, take in entertainment, watch plowing competitions, conduct agricultural business and meet new and old friends.
This year’s IPM will be held in Bruce County from September 22 to 26, 2026.
